About the Role
Location: Glooscap Landing
Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000 annually
Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Work Arrangement: 4 days in-office, Fridays work from home
Position Overview
Glooscap Ventures is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to serve as a key link between Glooscap Ventures and community members.
This role is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and transparent communication, while actively gathering feedback from the community to inform decision-making. The Coordinator will lead engagement sessions, support communications such as newsletters and reports, and organize community events at Glooscap Landing.
This position works closely with the CEO and plays an important role in strengthening trust, communication, and community connection.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Relationship Building
- Plan and lead community engagement sessions, meetings, and information sessions
- Act as a primary point of contact for community members regarding Glooscap Ventures initiatives
- Build strong, respectful relationships with community members and stakeholders
- Ensure engagement is inclusive, culturally appropriate, and accessible
Communications
- Develop and distribute community communications (e.g., newsletters, updates, social media content)
- Support the preparation of annual reports and community presentations
- Translate business initiatives into clear, understandable information for the community
- Assist in managing communication around major announcements or projects
Events
- Plan, organize, and execute community events at Glooscap Landing
- Work with local businesses, partners, and community groups to activate the space
- Coordinate logistics including scheduling, vendors, promotion, and on-site support
- Develop ideas for recurring events that bring community members together
Feedback & Reporting
- Gather feedback from community members through meetings, surveys, and informal discussions
- Summarize and report community perspectives directly to the CEO and leadership team
- Identify emerging concerns, opportunities, and priorities within the community
- Support leadership in responding to community questions and concerns
Coordination & Support
- Coordinate logistics for community meetings and events
- Identifying employment and training opportunities for community members
- Support internal teams in planning engagement strategies for new projects
- Maintain records of engagement activities and feedback
- Assist with special projects related to community outreach and development
This position plays a critical role in ensuring that Glooscap Ventures remains connected, accountable, and responsive to the community it serves. The Community Engagement Coordinator helps strengthen trust, improve communication, and create meaningful opportunities for community connection and participation.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with or within Mi’kmaw communities is an asset
- Ability to facilitate meetings and engage diverse groups
- Strong writing skills (plain language, newsletters, reports)
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
