About the Role

The Gaming Attendant (VLT Operations) is responsible for delivering professional customer service while supporting the daily operation of video lottery terminals and related gaming services. This role includes customer interaction, cash handling, maintaining a secure and welcoming environment, and ensuring gaming operations are conducted in accordance with company procedures and applicable standards.

Location:  Glooscap Ventures/ Glooscap Entertainment Centre, Corner Store

Benefits Eligibility: Benefits become available after three (3) months of uninterrupted service if full-time.

 

The position requires a dependable, customer-focused individual who can work responsibly in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

 

Duties include:

Customer Service

·       Provide courteous, professional, and respectful service to all customers.

·       Respond to customer inquiries and resolve routine concerns promptly.

·       Promote a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable customer experience.

·       Handle difficult situations calmly and escalate concerns when required.

 

Gaming Operations

·       Monitor VLT gaming areas to ensure orderly and responsible operations.

·       Ensure gaming machines and surrounding areas remain clean, functional, and presentable.

·       Report machine malfunctions, suspicious activity, or operational concerns promptly.

·       Follow all internal controls, policies, and gaming procedures.

 

Cash Handling & Transactions

·       Process customer transactions accurately using cash and point-of-sale systems.

·       Balance cash drawers and reconcile transactions at shift end as required.

·       Maintain accurate records and follow cash control procedures.

·       Safeguard cash, floats, and related assets at all times.

 

Store & Facility Support

·       Restock coolers, shelves, and operational supplies as required.

·       Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including gaming and customer areas.

·       Support general daily operations as needed.

 

Health, Safety & Security

·       Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

·       Maintain confidentiality regarding business operations, customer matters, and financial information.

·       Report hazards, incidents, or security concerns immediately.

·       Support a respectful workplace free of harassment or misconduct.

 

Facility Maintenance

·       Maintain the general cleanliness and tidiness of gaming, customer, and common areas.

·       Complete routine washroom checks and light cleaning, including restocking essential supplies as required.

·       Address spills, litter, and garbage without delay to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

·       Perform other light housekeeping and facility upkeep duties as required during the shift.

 

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

·       High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

·       Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, or gaming experience considered an asset.

·       Experience handling cash and processing transactions accurately.

·       Strong attendance record and demonstrated reliability.

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

·       Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·       Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·       Reliable transportation to Hantsport, Nova Scotia.

·       Experience working in or with First Nations communities considered an asset.

  • Criminal Record Check required.

 

 

Physical Demands

·       Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

·       Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when stocking or moving supplies.

·       Ability to perform repetitive cash handling and cleaning tasks.

  • Ability to work in an active customer-facing environment.

 

Working Conditions

·       Work takes place in a retail and gaming environment.

·       Frequent interaction with the public.

·       Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

·       Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and attention to detail.
