Rethinking Success

We are often taught to measure success using a simple formula: how much do you earn, how busy are you, and how far have you progressed? Salary and job title often sit at the centre of that definition. But if we pause and look closely, like the image below suggests, the reality tells a different story.

From an early stage, we are conditioned to value what is most visible. Salary and job titles become the markers of achievement, and over time, they shape how we define progress. It becomes easy to equate success with status, even when those measures only reflect a small part of our overall well-being.

What truly sustains us goes far beyond these external indicators. Our mental and physical health, the joy and meaning we find in what we do, and the time we have to rest and recharge are what genuinely support a fulfilling life. When these are overlooked, success can begin to feel empty, no matter how impressive it looks on the outside.

We now have an opportunity to redefine what success means, for ourselves and for those around us. When we value well-being, purpose, and balance alongside achievement, we create a more sustainable and meaningful path, one where success is not only seen, but genuinely felt.
